(OCALA, Fla.) Jan. 21, 2010 — Artist Vicki Pritchard will provide a weekly three-hour workshop titled “Painting the Girl with a Pearl Earring” at the Appleton Museum of Art of Central Florida Community College, Jan. 30 through March 20. Fees are $165 for members, $200 for nonmembers and $140 for students under 18.

Pritchard will provide instruction each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the step-by-step process of recreating the “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” a masterpiece by 17th century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. While at the Appleton, students can view the exhibitions “The New Reality: The Frontier of Realism in the 21st Century” and “Red,” plus the museum’s permanent collections of European, American and Contemporary art, and Asian, African and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities.

General admission to the Appleton is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors 55 or better and students 19 and over; $3 for youths ages 10-18; and free for members, CF students, children age 9 and under, and active military personnel and their immediate families. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays and closed on Mondays.

The Appleton offers a 12-month membership for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
