(OCALA, Fla.) March 15, 2010 — Acclaimed virtuoso and composer for the classical and modern guitar, Anton Del Forno will perform traditional guitar compositions and his own original works at the Appleton Museum of Art of Central Florida Community College on Sunday, March 21, at 1:30 p.m. The program is free for members and included in the price of admission for nonmembers.

Regular daily admission is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors 55 or better and students 19 and over; $3 for youths ages 10-18; and free for members, CF students, children age 9 and under, and active military personnel and their immediate families.

Del Forno’s stage work has included solo guitar performances in Joffrey Ballet’s “Viva Vivaldi” production and lead guitarist in “Man of La Mancha” on Broadway. He has also performed as soloist for the Metropolitan Opera House and recently composed a concerto for guitar and orchestra that was premiered in New York.

Del Forno began playing the electric guitar as a teenager and switched to classical guitar at age 17. He enrolled in the Mannes College of Music in New York and studied under esteemed Russian violinist Leonid Bolotine. He began his professional concert career at age 24 and has performed worldwide.

In addition to Del Forno’s concert, guests are invited to enjoy the Appleton Museum’s current exhibitions “The New Reality: The Frontier of Realism in the 21st Century” and “Morgan Samuel Price: Florida’s Plein Air Artist.” The museum also offers extensive permanent collections of European, American and Contemporary art, plus Asian, African and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities. The Appleton Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays and closed on Mondays. A 12-month membership is available for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
