OCALA ART GROUP OPENS ‘ON THE BALCONY’ EXHIBITION AT APPLETON MUSEUM, SEPT. 4

(OCALA, Fla.) Aug. 13, 2010 — The Ocala Art Group’s member artists will be displaying their original works in the “On the Balcony” exhibition opening Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida. Admission to the exhibition is free for members and included in the museum’s admission price for nonmembers. The exhibition will run through Oct. 3.

Regular daily admission is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors 55 or better and students 19 and over; $3 for youths ages 10-18; and free for members, CF students, children age 9 and under, and active military personnel and their immediate families.

“On the Balcony” will be a juried exhibition featuring a wide range of two- and three-dimensional art. Categories will include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media/graphic design, photography, sculpture/3-D media, digital artwork and drawing media (pen, colored pencil, pencil and charcoal). The Ocala Art Group was founded in 1950 and provides its members with art programs, demonstrations and workshops throughout the year. The organization holds meetings at the Appleton Museum on the second Wednesday of every month and all members of the Ocala Art Group are also members of the Appleton.

In addition to the “On the Balcony” exhibition, guests are invited to view all of the Appleton’s permanent collections of European, American and Contemporary art, plus Asian, African and pre-Columbian artifacts and antiquities. The Appleton Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to

5 p.m. Sundays and closed on Mondays. A 12-month membership is available for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
