(OCALA, Fla.) Nov. 16, 2010 – Leading actors from the Ocala Civic Theatre will sing traditional songs of the season during the Holiday Duet musical programs presented at the Appleton Museum of Art, College of Central Florida, on Dec. 10, 11 and 12. Admission to the Holiday Duet is $12 per person and includes access to the Appleton’s “Reflections,” “European Sporting and Pastoral Masterpieces” and “The Unseen Eye” exhibitions, plus tasty holiday treats. The 90-minute Holiday Duet performances will be staged at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10; 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12. In addition to the music and temporary exhibitions, guests will enjoy the museum’s permanent collections and complimentary holiday treats and coffee. Doors open at 5 p.m. on Dec. 10, 10 a.m. on Dec. 11 and noon on Dec. 12.

There are currently three temporary exhibitions at the Appleton. “Reflections: Paintings of Florida, 1865-1965, From the Collection of Cici and Hyatt Brown” showcases more than 70 historic Florida paintings by some of America’s most important artists. “European Sporting and Pastoral Masterpieces from a Private Collection” features 18 equestrian and landscape paintings created by some of Europe’s finest artists from the 18th and 19th centuries. Plus, “The Unseen Eye: Photography from the Collection of W.M. Hunt” offers 200 images by world renowned photographers in a thematic exhibition in which all of the subjects have their eyes hidden or obscured.

General admission to the Appleton is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors 55 or better and students 19 and over; $3 for youths ages 10-18; and free for members, CF students, children age 9 and under, and active military personnel and their immediate families. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

In addition to daily admission, the Appleton Museum offers a 12-month membership for $25 for seniors 55 and over, $30 for adults 18 and over, $40 for two seniors over age 55, $50 for a family of two adults and any children under age 18, and $15 for all college students and current or retired educators.
