The Monumental Sculpture of Jon Hair and Tour of the World-Famous Vinoy Hotel

Music and marketing eventually gave way to figurative sculpture for accomplished artist Jon Hair, whose atelier is our first stop. The artist’s equally larger-than-life personality (he self-describes as “part Michelangelo and part P.T. Barnum”) is certain to thrill visitors. The fabulous Vinoy Hotel has a life-size history of its own, from lavish beginnings, to ruin, to rising again as a respite for the rich and famous. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it served as a training center for the Air Force in WWII. Enjoy a historic tour of the building—its art, Mediterranean Revival architecture and fine china, and then lunch in the dining room.

Price: $90 Appleton members | $100 nonmembers
