Nilda Maria Comas, one of the Legacy artists displays additional sculptural works in the galleries adjoining those that host Legacy: A Tradition Lives On. Comas’s life-like sculptures in bronze and terracotta depict human and animal forms.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Houston and graduated cum laude with a Master of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Figurative Art where she received the highest scholarship given by the Academy. Comas now divides her time between the artist colony of Pietrasanta (near Florence, Italy) and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she has resided for 28 years.
Nilda writes of her work: “Fine art which is well conceived and properly executed leads us all to grow more compassionate. I aim at pursuing these established standards, which demand the knowledge of composition, perspective, form, draftsmanship, and anatomy as the vehicles that will enable me to bring my personal visions to life.”
