John Kingerlee’s current work includes abstracted compositions influenced by color and surface texture. A self-taught artist who grew up in Londay, Kingerlee has been influenced by modern literature, Surrealistic painting, including the work of Dali and Kurt Schwitters, the Dada artist, Braque and Picasso, in cubism and the energetic images of Paul Klee and Asger Jorn.
Kingerlee’s oil paintings include landscapes, collages, figurative work with animals, a series of heads and abstract grid paintings. The paintings are worked with many layers of oil painting and developed over a period of many years.
