Lazy Days of France: Paintings by François Gall and Gabriel Spat
February 10 – April 15, 2007
This delightful exhibit presents a variety of genre scenes from life in France by two early 20th century French artists painting in the impressionist style. Street and beach scenes, beautiful women, and vibrant café life provide some of the settings. These charming paintings bring to mind relaxing days that usher in a sense of calm. The impressionistic style in which these two artists work provide a stark contrast to the brushstroke perfectionism of the French Academic artists that are enchantingly portrayed in the companion Bouguereau exhibit.
