Visual Stories: The Artwork of James Ransome

Chosen in partnership with the Appleton Museum’s A.R.T.S. reading program for 2nd grade students is an exhibit of 51 original paintings by award winning children’s book illustrator, James Ransome. The exhibit also includes preliminary drawings, color studies, a complete set of books, and “dummy” books (black and white sketches used by an illustrator to indicate placement of artwork into a book) allowing the visitor to follow the progression of an illustrated book concept to completion.
