The first stop is the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens in Winter Park. Polasek left his home in what is now the Czech Republic and immigrated to the United States where he gained a following, and a bit of notoriety, for some of his large public commissions. The group will get a docent-led tour of Polasek’s home and gardens, gaining insight into his fascination with cowboys and Indians. The highlight of this visit is “Albin Polasek’s Wild, Wild West,” the premiere exhibition of work from master western artist, Charles M. Russell. Following lunch in the sculpture gardens overlooking Lake Osceola, the group will move on to The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art for a docent-led tour of works from Louis Comfort Tiffany, “Quest of Beauty,” and other exhibits. Tiffany initially shunned his father’s focus on jewelry and spent years perfecting the use of glass and glass making before returning to the lure and beauty of jewelry making.

On July 10, Trips ‘N Tours heads to Jacksonville for a special behind-the-scenes look at gallery life and rare finds from around the world. The trip centers on the Mussallem Galleries featuring handcrafted fine art and artifacts, including showrooms of hand-knotted antique and contemporary rugs. Following a docent-led tour the group will enjoy a lunch specially created by the gallery’s in-house caterer. There will also be time in the afternoon for more browsing in the gallery.

The cost of this day trip will be $50 for members and $60 for non-members.
