In her debut film, Lucrecia Martel established her astonishingly vital and original voice with exquisite cinematography. This comedy-drama, which follows a bourgeois extended family summering at their decrepit country estate in Argentina’s high plains, is actually a visceral take on class, nature, sexuality and the ways that political turmoil and social stagnation can manifest in human relationships.(NR, 1h 43m)
