The Appleton offers a variety of opportunities for adults to learn something new and practice or fine-tune existing skills. Courses and workshops range from one day to multi-week sessions with local artists, art instructors and special visiting artists. Explore painting through these multi-week workshops, taught by artist Vanessa Fuller Brown. All materials are included and all skill levels are welcome.

Acrylic Color Workshop: Saturdays, June 15 and 22, 1–5 p.m. Click here to enroll.
This acrylic class for all levels focuses on the color wheel, color theory and blending of primary colors. Students will create four small still-life paintings black and white, yellows, blues and reds with step-by-step instruction throughout the workshop.
Highwaymen Seascape (Water Soluble Oil with Fan Brush):

Founded by Deborah Koff-Chapin, this guided process involves drawing images on paper that has been placed over a surface of wet paint. Students will then choose one image to be mounted, colored and embellished according to their preferred medium. No experience required.
Saturdays, July 20 and 27, 1–5 p.m.

These six-week sessions offer potters of all skill levels a chance to practice and develop new skills and techniques in hand building and wheel throwing through fun and functional ceramic projects such as serving sets, vases, or your own creative expressions. Fee includes 25 lbs. of clay, glazes, firing, and extra studio time from 1-4 p.m. on select Saturdays.

Open studio time is available to ages 16 and older who have previously completed one six-week Dig into Clay session.
Option 1: Your choice of six Saturday afternoons (June 1–August 24), 1-4 p.m. Includes access to a variety of glazes and firing of all work completed during the studio session. 25 lb. bags of clay can be purchased for $30.
