Daniel M. and Mary B. Kraus’ generous gift to the Appleton has enabled us to open the ARTSpace to the community. The ARTSpace is designed to engage adults and children in hands-on art experiences through colorful activity stations and projects that relate to the understanding of art. Make a mosaic with magnets, build with Lego® or draw on our glasswall. The ARTSpace and all supplies are free for children and members; included in the cost of admission for adults.

Tuesday-Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sunday: Noon-4 p.m.

SIX-Week Sessions

In these six-week workshops, participants will create earthenware sculpture, vessels and other ceramic artworks using a variety of hand building or wheel throwing techniques. Includes: instruction and one studio day per week on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m., 25 lb. of clay, studio time, supplies, glazes and firing.

ART 101

If you are 16 or older and would like to “begin at the beginning” with fun art lessons, then these classes are for you! ART 101 is a series designed to inspire your creative side and provide a pleasant, successful experience.

Cost Per Art 101 Experience:

Nonmembers: $35 or $175 for all six classes

Drawing in the gallery

First Thursday of the Month, 3-5 p.m.

Practice your drawing skills in this monthly workshop that lets you get up close and personal with artwork from the collection. Each month, meet in a different gallery and use the artwork as inspiration for your own sketches. Participants must bring their own pencils and sketchbooks; stools provided.

Ceramics Workshop with Eric Serritella

Opened Earth — The Beauty Within
Saturday, November 14, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

A Fine Timber artist Eric Serritella will present a hands-on workshop where students will use heated clay-stretching techniques to expose the beautiful texture hidden beneath the clay’s smooth outer façade. Multiple techniques for achieving different textures in wheelthrowing and hand building will be demonstrated and practiced by workshop attendees.
