ART classes and workshops FOR ADULTS

The Appleton offers a variety of opportunities for adults to learn something new and practice or fine-tune existing skills. Courses and workshops range from one day to multi-week sessions with local artists, art instructors and special visiting artists. Please read below for upcoming studio art opportunities for adults.

SIX-Week Sessions

In these six-week workshops, participants will create earthenware sculpture, vessels and other ceramic artworks using a variety of hand building or wheel throwing techniques. Members $200; Nonmembers $250
Includes: instruction and one studio day per week on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m., 25 lb. of clay, studio time, supplies, glazes and firing.

ART 101

If you are 16 or older and would like to “begin at the beginning” with fun art lessons, then these classes are for you! ART 101 is a series designed to inspire your creative side and provide a pleasant, successful experience.

Cost Per Art 101 Experience:
Members: $30 or $145 for all six classes
Nonmembers: $35 or $175 for all six classes
Includes instruction and all supplies.

Drawing in the galleries

First Thursday of the Month, 3-5 p.m.

Practice your drawing skills in this monthly, non-instructional program that lets you get up close and personal with artwork from the collection. Each month, choose a gallery and use the architecture and artwork as inspiration for your sketches. You must bring your own pencils and sketchbooks; stools are provided and benches are located throughout the galleries.
