Children and Families

Explore and create in the Appleton’s studio art classes, camps and drop-in activities for children and families. Browse the education calendar below for upcoming activities. All programs are led by experienced educators.

When you visit the museum, stop by the Artspace. The Artspace is a vibrant makerspace featuring family-friendly, hands-on activities and is open during museum hours.

Appleteens Wheel Throwing

Ages: 13-17
September 28, 2024 -  November 2, 2024
Saturdays,  2-4 p.m.
Member Cost: $140
Non-Member Cost: $160

This six-week Appleteens session offers ages 13–17 a chance to practice and develop new skills and techniques in wheel throwing though fun and functional ceramic projects.

Clay Explorations

Ages: 8-12
October 2, 2024 -  November 6, 2024
Wednesdays,  3:30-5 p.m.
Member Cost: $100
Non-Member Cost: $130

Art Explorations are multi-week classes for ages 8-12 that explore different mediums. This six-week Clay Explorations class presents fun projects in handbuilding with an introduction to glazing.

The Artspace engages adults and children in hands-on art experiences through colorful activity stations and projects that promote the understanding of art. Make a mosaic with magnets, build with Lego® or draw on our glass wall — there’s something for every age and ability!
