Get ready for another creative summer at the Appleton's Summer Art Camp! This year we are offering a variety of one and two-week art camps for ages 4 and up beginning June 4.

Art Space

Daniel and Mary B. Kraus ARTSpace
Open to Everyone!

The ARTSpace is designed to engage adults and children in hands-on art experiences through colorful activity stations and projects that relate to the understanding of art. Make a mosaic with magnets, build with Lego® or draw on our glass wall — there's something for every age and ability!

ARTSpace Hours:
Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sundays, noon–5 p.m.
The ARTSpace and all supplies are free for children and Appleton members, and included in the cost of admission for adult nonmembers. For more information, contact Hollis Mutch, 352-291-4455, ext. 1613.

After School

This new, multisensory program introduces ages 2–5 to the Appleton. Each session starts with a brief visit to the galleries to examine a work of art, and then to the ARTSpace for a corresponding art activity. Children must have at least one adult with them at all times. Registration available soon.

After School

Art Explorations are five-week sessions for ages 7-12 each focusing on a different medium.

Art Explorations will resume in the fall for the 2018-2019 school year.


One-day workshops for the tween and teen art scene, featuring age-appropriate activities for ages 12-17 that focus on a variety of fun themes and mediums.

First Saturday

First Saturdays at the Appleton are for families! Visit the ARTSpace and participate in a special art-making project. Something new and different will happen each month. This program is for ages 4 and older; accompanying adults are welcome to participate.

First Saturday

Half-day Happenings are a perfect way to spend Marion County Public School early release days — and a great way for students to discover the Appleton! Pick up an “assignment” at the Rotunda, enjoy the exhibitions, then visit the ARTSpace for a fun, hands-on art making experience. Free for Appleton members and all children; adult nonmembers pay what they want for admission.

Arty Parties

Bring a group of friends, celebrate a birthday or host a team-building workshop. The education staff will work with you to provide a creative, hands-on experience, appropriate for any occasion. Children's themed birthdays include printable party invitations and ARTy Party bags.

    ARTy Party Themes

    Canvas Masterpiece
    Put your canvas on an easel and paint like a master. Choose an artist you would like to learn about and get inspired. Paint an original worthy of framing! Choose ONE artist for your party: Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse or Georgia O'Keeffe.

    Museum Experience
    Tour the African or Asian galleries and then create a work of art inspired by our collection. Color and decorate your own African mask or paint an Asian scroll, lantern or fan.

    ARTy PARTY Fee

    Members: $250, Nonmembers: $300

  • Fee includes up to 15 children
  • Additional children or adults may be added at $20 per person
  • There is no additional charge for art supplies or materials
  • Families are responsible for providing cake, beverages, decorations and all paper products
  • Ice cream, homemade products, balloons and flowers are not allowed at ARTy Parties
  • A 50% deposit is due within 7 days of making a reservation and payment in-full is due one week prior to the date of the party.
